PowerPivot

PowerPivot is a big deal for Excel. If you've been following my lessons, you know that I'm a big proponent of building your Excel models in layers; Data, Business Logic, Presentation. PowerPivot is a new Excel feature that lets you build a massive data layer. By massive, I mean several million rows of data. If your data won't fit into an Excel worksheet, it will certainly fit in PowerPivot.

There are a lot of very powerful features bundles into PowerPivot (like creating hierarchies) and Microsoft keep adding features to it. This is making Excel a much more important tool that can be used to analyze data.
